Usu Mallya is a Tanzanian feminist activist and coach. An experienced and capable facilitator, Usu has a particular strength in linking macro to micro level issues and analysis, from a transformative feminist perspective, and in perceiving the implications of these issues for policy, advocacy, and movement building grounded in grassroots activism. Usu has played a key facilitation role in the development of the feminist and gender activist movement in Tanzania including coordinating the Feminist Activism Coalition (Fem Act) at national level, the Intermediary Gender Network (IGN) at local levels, the Gender and Development Seminar Series (GDSS), and the Gender Festival (GF), a space devoted to transformative feminist movement building. She is the former Executive Director of the Tanzania Gender Networking Program (TGNP)
